My German Ancestry

So me and my family have been doing some research into our ethnic past and we found out what part of Germany my family comes from.
It appears we come from the Alsace region of Germany (now in France) or the Alemanni tribe and we were part of the old nobility but we lost it around 1760.
It is amazing how things change over time. I wonder what my ancestors would thing of how Germany and their homeland has become today.
